A note about food donations to the Moncton SPCA

While the Moncton SPCA greatly appreciates all food donations we receive, we may not always be able to use what is provided.

We try very hard to give the animals the best care that we can while in our facility. Part of this means keeping them on a consistent diet as much as possible. Providing different brands of food than what the animals are normally used to can lead to upset stomachs, diarrhea and possible allergic reactions.

We are fortunate to have Iams sponsor the pets who are already up for adoption. We do, however, rely on donations to feed the animals waiting for their chance at adoption or who are being housed with us for other reasons. If you wish to help these animals, we ask that you choose a food that we can use such as Pedigree dry dog food, Iams dry food (both cat and dog), canned dog food and canned cat food (beef or chicken - no seafood).

That being said, any food that we receive is put to use. We do not throw away food. We share with other organizations, help the pet food bank, ca-r-ma, the Atlantic Wildlife Institute and local families who are unable to feed their pets.

Thank you, Hartz!

The Moncton SPCA would like to extend a huge "Thank you!" to Guy Prospero at Hartz Pet Products for the very generous donation of dog and cat supplies. The products that were generously sent our way have made a huge difference to the animals in our care! We extend our thanks and gratitude for their support.

Jolicure Cats now available at Moncton SPCA

Jolicure Cats - a wonderful new book by Lorrie Bell Hawkins - is now available for sale at the Moncton SPCA. A perfect gift for any animal lover in your family, the book tells the stories of the cats who have shared Lorrie's life, including Minou, who was adopted from the Moncton SPCA! These wonderful tales will surely touch your heart. A portion of the proceeds from each sale will be donated to the Moncton SPCA.

Social media

Did you know the Moncton SPCA has a very active Facebook group? We have also set up YouTube and Twitter accounts. Those will be getting more active as we continue to dip our toes into the social media realm! We look forward to your support and feedback.

Moncton SPCA no longer accepts newspapers

Please be advised that the Moncton SPCA no longer accepts donations of old newspapers. We thank those who have donated these items in the past.

Coppers for Critters: A penny drive in support of the Moncton SPCA

Coppers for CrittersThe Coppers for Critters penny drive currently underway is raising funds for the construction of 14 new dog kennels, thus allowing us to house, rehabilitate and hopefully adopt out many more animals each year.

The project will cost approximately $12,000, which equates to approximately 8,000 lb of pennies. Many people simply throw away their pennies or consider them to be worthless. We're hoping that you'll throw them into our collection pails instead! Every penny collected will get us that much closer to our goal.

Help us find Archie!!

Archie disappeared from the Moncton SPCA on Sunday, July 13, 2008. He was taken by person/persons unknown. If you know of Archie's whereabouts, please call the Moncton SPCA at 857-8698 or the Codiac RCMP at 857-2400 immediately.

Moncton SPCA not affiliated with Canadian SPCA

Once again, the Canadian SPCA is conducting a fundraiser in our area through letters sent to the general public. The Moncton SPCA is advising area residents that it is in no way affiliated with the Canadian SPCA (sometimes referred to as the "Montreal SPCA"). Not one penny of the money donated to the Canadian SPCA will ever come to the Moncton SPCA or
