Coppers for Critters: A penny drive in support of the Moncton SPCA The Coppers for Critters penny drive currently underway is raising funds for the construction of 14 new dog kennels, thus allowing us to house, rehabilitate and hopefully adopt out many more animals each year. The project will cost approximately $10,000, which equates to approximately 6,060 lb of pennies. Many people simply throw away their pennies or consider them to be worthless. We\'re hoping that you'll throw them into our collection pails instead! Every penny collected will get us that much closer to our goal. We will provide the collection pails for any business choosing to participate. These pails will be marked off to show the progress of the pennies collected. We will pick up and empty the pails as they fill. A thermometer will be placed in the lobby of the Moncton SPCA to mark our progress toward the 6,060 lb of pennies we need to achieve out goal. The collection pails could be kept in your staff room or any other location at your business that would be convenient to you - even your reception desk. To participate, please contact Nanette Pearl at the Moncton SPCA at (506) 857-8698. |

Moncton SPCA not affiliated with Canadian SPCA Once again, the Canadian SPCA is conducting a fundraiser in our area through letters sent to the general public. The Moncton SPCA is advising area residents that it is in no way affiliated with the Canadian SPCA (sometimes referred to as the "Montreal SPCA"). Not one penny of the money donated to the Canadian SPCA will ever come to the Moncton SPCA or any other shelter of this province. The Moncton SPCA does not want well-meaning people to give to an organization thinking that they are helping their local shelter when, in fact, they are giving to an organization whose activities take place solely in one city in another province. Shelters from across Canada have begged the so-called "Canadian SPCA" to stop fundraising in their jurisdictions, but the organization has refused. If you see the above logo on documents you receive in the mail, IT IS NOT FROM THE MONCTON SPCA, NOR IS IT AFFILIATED WITH US! |
